Lessons at Cedar Creek Farm will teach you the skills you need to fully enjoy your horse, skills that
will last a lifetime.  All while learning safety and having fun, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Our riding lessons are tailored to the rider, from the novice rider to the experienced equestrian.  All of
our lessons are given by an experienced riding instructor whose job it is to help you achieve your
goals.   For the beginner rider who wants to learn how to ride, we will help you understand your
horse and how he thinks, so you feel comfortable and confident in the saddle.   For the competitive
rider whose goal is to show their horse, you will learn how to groom, show, and win in the show ring!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. Do I need to own a horse to take lessons?
A. No, you do not need to own your own horse to take lessons, we have lesson horses
available for no extra fee.

Q. What is a good age to start my child with lessons?
A. We give lessons to riders from age 5 to 60+. With the youngest riders we give "tiny tot"
lessons which are 30 minutes long. Some tiny tots ride twice a week.

Q. How many times a week should I ride?
A. Well, you could ride 7 days a week if you want, but we suggest you ride at least once or
twice a week. We give riding lessons all year long and do suggest that you ride at least once
or twice a week to build skills and confidence with the horse.

Q. Will students learn how to take care of the horse?
A. Absolutely, but in the beginning we do concentrate mostly on riding.

Q. What should I wear to my first lesson?
A. At your first lesson you should wear a helmet. To start out, helmets can be provided by
Cedar Creek  if you don't have one, but if you or your child continues, you will want to buy a
riding helmet. Also, you should wear boots with a hard sole and a heel. No tennis shoes or
dress boots. Again, if after your first couple of lessons it looks like you want to continue, you
will want to buy riding boots, a riding helmet, riding pants, and riding gloves.

Q. Where do I find this riding equipment and clothing?
A. We have several catalogs from tack stores that have riding pants, boots, gloves, and
helmets. You can also visit our
Links page to find contact information for our favorite local tack
stores.

Q. Will I be able to show at horse shows?
A. Depending on your riding level, you may be able to attend and compete at horse shows
with Cedar Creek Farm.  Show packages are available, as well as transportation for your
horse to the show.

Q. Do you give group lessons?
A. We mostly give private lessons, but semi-private and group lessons are also available at a
reduced rate, and to get practice riding with other riders in the arena.

Q. My goal is to own our own horse. Do you have horses for sale?
A. Yes, we do have horses for sale and it is our business to help you with the purchase of your
own horse whether you want to ride for pleasure or show.
